The Gaucho: Tradition and Diversity in Argentina
January 14, 2019-March 8, 2019

The exhibit focuses on the gaucho, the Argentine cowboy, as seen in history, literature, film, and everyday practices. It provides a look at the diverse ethnic make-up of the gauchos, and highlights the folkloric music and dances of Argentina that come from the gaucho traditions, a mix of indigenous, Afro-Argentine, and Spanish elements.

Original photos of folkloric dances and musical instruments have been provided by IFC Artes student (Mendoza, Argentina) Juan Manuel Paredes. Dance videos, as performed by IFC Artes students, will also be showing as part of the exhibit.

Presented by Condesa A. Nora Meijide-Gentry and Spanish@UHM
