CAMBODIAN NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

April 13, 4:00pm - 8:00pm
Mānoa Campus, East West Center, Wailana Room 1777 East-West Road, Honolulu, HI 96822 Add to Calendar

Join us to celebrate UH Manoa's first ever Cambodian New Year. Learn about the history and culture of Cambodia, get to know members of the Cambodian community in Honolulu, and sample Cambodian food, including authentic dishes made by local Cambodian families, offering them to the public for the first time. The event’s special highlights include cultural performances, a fashion show, New Year games, and arts and crafts. Free potted plants of native herbs and vegetables will be given to attendees, while supplies last. Although the event is free and open to the public, donations are much appreciated.

A booth featuring the Home Garden Network, a program established by Dr. Sothy Eng, Assistant Professor of Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, will showcase how Cambodians are healing from their trauma through gardening, and convey to the public how plants and food sustainability were essential to individuals during times of war and natural disasters. Bring your family and friends. Admission is free for this event. See you there!
