Oceanography Seminar - Ed DeLong

September 26, 3:00pm - 4:00pm
Mānoa Campus, Marine Science Building 114 Add to Calendar

The past 40 years have witnessed a remarkable sea change in our understanding of the nature, roles, properties and adaptations of marine microbes in a variety of oceanic habitats. The discovery of new microbial lineages, unanticipated ecological processes, and unexpected microbial physiologies, have all influenced our current understanding about the nature and roles of marine microbes in the ocean. In this seminar, I'll trace some of our lab's past and present explorations of the vast microbial seascape, and describe some globally relevant ocean microbiome surprises we've encountered along the way.
