Starting May 1, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month 2021 begins which pays tribute to the generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have enriched America's history and are instrumental in its future success. A new organization, the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Geosciences (AAPIiG), just launched, and is celebrating by hosting a series of Zoom events beginning on May 8. This new grassroots organization is committed to building a community that supports AAPIs within geosciences, including those in the marine, planetary, atmospheric, cryospheric, and environmental sciences. Especially, join the conversation on Thursday, May 20 from 10:30-noon Hawaii time to listen to Dr. Rosie Alegado, the director of Hawaii Sea Grant's Center for Integrated Knowledge Systems, who will be a featured speaker in a roundtable discussion “Navigating Intersectionality and Agency in Geosciences.” For more information and to register visit: https://www.aapigeosci.org/initiatives/events/
