April 6, 3:00pm - 5:00pm

Join us for a virtual workshop on data-driven policing, houselessness, and real estate development with the Stop LAPD Spying Coalition rooted in the Skid Row community. Coalition members will workshop the findings and organizing strategies published in the coalition’s new report, “Automating Banishment: The Surveillance and Policing of Looted Land.” We bring this conversation to Hawai’i to exchange knowledge and experience about gentrification and policing that increasingly depends on data generation and data sharing to predict crime. The Coalition has successfully held LAPD accountable and has dismantled LAPD’s first-generation predictive policing programs. Skid Row is located on stolen Tongva/Gabrielino land. Honolulu is located on Kanaka Maoli land illegally occupied by the United States.
