Ellen Galinsky: Mind in the Making

October 25, 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Mānoa Campus, Live Online Webinar Add to Calendar

Please join us for an online conversation on the science of learning and how to raise curious, connected, resilient kids. All parents want to raise children who are well-rounded lifelong learners. But what does science say works best? What strategies do parents need to help their children thrive? What institutions and investments does Hawai‘i need to make successful parenting possible for all families? Drawing on research across fields, from neuroscience to policy analysis, our panelists have answers. Ellen Galinsky is the author of hundreds of reports, books, and articles, including Mind in the Making: The Seven Essential Life Skills Every Child Needs and The Six Stages of Parenthood. Her research on a wide range of problems, from early-childhood education to education design to work and families, aims to convert scholarly findings into institutional action. Special Hawai‘i guests include: Deborah Zysman, Executive Director of Hawai‘i Children’s Action Network; Ryan Kusumoto, President & CEO of Parents and Children Together; and Ku‘ulani Keohokalole, Owner & Principal Consultant, People Strategies Hawaiʻi, our moderator. Brought to you by the UH Better Tomorrow Speaker Series in partnership with the Hawai‘i Book and Music Festival. The Better Tomorrow Speaker Series is a joint venture of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, the Hawai‘i Community Foundation, and Kamehameha Schools. Series sponsors include the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, Scholars Strategy Network, and the Queen’s Health Systems.
