“Understanding Human Rights to Create a Culture of Peace in Our Daily Lives” with Yumi Saito ------- Session: This session aims to create a culture of peace in students' direct environment by understanding their human rights and how to take action to promote them for themselves and others. In the session, we will learn fundamental human rights through the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Convention on the Rights of the Child and the actions of peacebuilders who enhance respect for human dignity in their communities. As for the practice, we focus on the daily situation for students to understand human rights violations and how to raise their voices and take action for themselves and others.------- Speaker: Yumi Saito is enrolled in the Spark M. Matsunaga Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution and the Department of Educational Foundations at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa.
