Research Experience: Undergraduate Student Program

Hawaiʻi Data Science Institute is funding two undergraduate student programs. Open to all UH undergraduate students at any campus. Spring Undergraduate Student Program: SCIPE CI-REO 2026 The SCIPE CyberInfrastructure Research Experience Opportunity (CI-REO) is a semester-long, mentored research program that supports undergraduate students through exposure to Research Cyberinfrastructure projects with researchers and cyberinfrastructure professionals during the academic year at 10 hours per week on a stipend. This program supports students to learn and apply CI skills, act as CI contributors by creating documentation/training, workflows, computational notebooks, and research outputs. Summer Undergraduate Student Program: SCIPE CI-SIP 2026 The SCIPE CyberInfrastructure Summer Immersion Program (CI-SIP) is a month-long virtual immersion combining development of key skills and abilities in Cyberinfrastructure (CI) with a research project applying CI skills. The program will include self-paced introductions to data science modules and 4 weeks of immersion in which participants leverage CI resources and methods to support research. This program will take place virtually. Participants will develop their skills in advanced computing, data science, analytics and visualization. Apply Here by February, 28, 2026.
