Ohana Roots to Rocket Science

March 8, 5:30pm - 9:00pm
Mānoa Campus, Architecture Auditorium

Carl McNair and Claude Onizuka join together to celebrate the heroic legacies of their respective brothers Ronald McNair and Ellison Onizuka, NASA astronauts who perished in the 1986 Challenger mission.

From Lake City, South Carolina, Ronald McNair became the second African-American astronaut; from Kealakekua, Hawai’i, Ellison Onizuka was the first Japanese-American astronaut. Carl and Claude have turned tragedy into a teaching tool by promoting diversity in science education.
