“What the Micronesian Migrant Surveys tell us about conditions of Micronesians in Hawai‘i”

Dr. Levin will discuss the history of the Micronesian migrant surveys and what they have shown us about the changing counts and characteristics of the migrants over time. He will compare migrants to Hawai‘i with those going to Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and also with the Micronesians remaining in Micronesia. While the emphasis will be on Federated States of Micronesia migration, comparisons will also be made with the Palauan and Marshallese migration streams. He will also discuss the current surveys of the Micronesian migrants to Hawai‘i, Guam, Saipan, and the continental United States.
