UH West O‘ahu celebrates its largest student event of the year this Wednesday, April 18. This last-ever West O‘ahu Day event at UH West O‘ahu’s current Pearl City location will focus on the theme of sustainability as the University looks forward to its new Kapolei campus currently under construction and scheduled for completion in August of this year.

Happening from 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., the event will feature a variety of activities by UH West O‘ahu student clubs as well as University departments and groups including Kealaikahiki, the University’s Native Hawaiian program, the new UH West O‘ahu The West Shop Bookstore, Library, and No‘eau Center for Writing, Math and Academic Success opening at the new Kapolei campus in August, and the UH West O‘ahu Alumni Association. The event is free and open to the public will take place in the UH West O‘ahu Courtyard.

West O‘ahu Day highlights

• Canned goods donations will be collected in support of the University of Hawai‘i’s annual food drive benefitting the Hawaii Food Bank.
• Former Hawai‘i State Senator Gary Hooser will give a motivational speech encouraging students to register to vote. All attendees may register to vote on-site at the Pre-Law Club booth.
• Elections will be held for the Associated Students of UH West O‘ahu (ASUHWO) student government. ASUHWO will be giving away free UH West O‘ahu T-shirts to currently enrolled students.
• All student attendees will have a chance to win cool prizes including an iPad2, a Kindle Fire, a Barbers Point Flight School flight certificate, Podium Raceway passes, and gift certificates to Kapolei Airsoft and various restaurants and stores. Students participating in activities at West O‘ahu Day booths will receive a free stamp card and become eligible to receive one of the grand prizes.
• Coca Cola will be giving away free Honest Tea and Vitamin Water drink samples.
• Student club booths will be selling a variety of food and other items with proceeds benefitting club activities.
• Food vendors will be selling shave ice and hot dogs.
