Join us for a dialogue on key issues impacting South Korea and the United States including territorial disputes, security and military support, and key developments in economic and trade relations. The U.S. Ambassador to Korea and the Korean Ambassador to the U.S. will reflect on the current and future state of the alliance.

Amb. Y.J. Choi was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the United States in March 2012. He has served as a Korean diplomat in many positions including as Permanent Representative of Korea to the UN and as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Amb. Sung Kim was confirmed as the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea in October 2011. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Special Envoy for the Six-Party Talks. He also headed the Office of Korean Affairs and served at posts in Seoul and Tokyo. He was born in Seoul and grew up in Los Angeles.

Moderated by: Ambassador Raymond Burghardt heads the East-West Center’s Seminars Program and concurrently serves as Chairman of the American Institute in Taiwan. He previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam (2001- 2004), and as Deputy Chief of Mission in Seoul, among other posts.
