Lai Yi-Chieh, guzheng

March 15, 7:30pm - 9:30pm
Mānoa Campus, Orvis Auditorium

The guzheng (古箏 literally meaning "ancient zither") has for more than 2,000 years been an emblematic instrument of China. Yet despite its long history, it remains musically fresh and vibrant . This concert combines old and new, East and West, with world premieres of new works for guzheng by UHM composers.

Lai Yi-Chieh brings to life new works by Takuma Itoh, Thomas Osborne, Donald Reid Womack, Byron Yasui and others in an exciting display of virtuosity.
