Mark M. Banaszak Holl

Professor of Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, and Macromolecular Science and Engineering

Dr. Mark M. Banaszak Holl is professor of Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, and Macromolecular Science and Engineering and a member of the graduate programs in Applied Physics and Biophysics at the University of Michigan. He is founding member of the Michigan Nanotechnology Institute for Medicine and Biological Sciences (MNIMBS) and served as Associate Vice-President for Research. Prior to coming to Michigan he held positions at IBM’s T. J. Watson Laboratory and Brown University. His research group is active in the research areas of targeted drug delivery, the mechanism of gene delivery, the nanoscale structure and microarchitecture of Type 1 collagen, and educational methods. He has received the IBM Research Partnership Award, an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship, the University of Michigan Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award, and was elected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Dr. Banaszak Holl earned a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Chicago, and a PhD in Chemistry from Cornell University.
