Creative Thinking: An Interdisciplinary Exploration
August 6, 2013 - August 13, 2013Mānoa Campus, Krauss 12
Creativity is not just what artists do, but rather a fundamental component for innovation and success in any field, from art to science, technology to business. Creativity is a way of thinking, a way of seeing and a way of approaching the world. Through a variety of interdisciplinary perspectives, examine the nature of creativity including the many myths and misconceptions commonly associated with it. Creative thinking is seen as a natural process that not only allows for greater adaptability, idea generation and problem solving, but also adds an increased dimension of richness and meaning to our lives.
Tuesdays, August 6 and 13 • 6:30-9 p.m.
Carl Jennings is an assistant professor of art and the coordinator of the painting and drawing program at Kapi’olani Community College. As a painter he has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally including the Contemporary Museum and the Hawaii Museum of Art. In 2011 he created the first undergraduate course on creative thinking in the University of Hawaii system.
An interdisciplinary artist, Tammy Cotton-Jennings is a lecturer in creative thinking and visual arts at Leeward Community College, and writing and literature and visual arts at Chaminade University. She also works as an ambassador of art for the Honolulu Museum of Art, visiting elementary schools.
