An introdution to the Hawaiian ahupua'a as a natural watershed and a socio-economic unit is given with emphasis on how our islands make us who we are. Discussion topics include protocol, cultural sensitivity, and appropriate behavior in sacred places and with special people, as well as the importance of Hawaiian worldview in defining sacred spaces and places, as well as in describing the landscape of our island home.
