PST - Voyages and Volcanoes (Session #2)

October 10, 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Windward Campus, Hale ‛Ākoakoa 107 & 109

This session looks at the geological history of the Hawaiian Islands as it is shared through Polynesian voyaging traditions. Several cosmological chants concerning origins of the Hawaiian islands and people are discussed, as well as the famous cycle of myths concering the activities of Pele the goddess of volcanoes, illuminating how these epic tales correctly portray the volcanic origin and growth of our Hawaiian chain.
