Dr. Christopher Chapple presents: "Nature Immersion in the Yogavasistha"

When the sage Vasistha explains his personal philosophical/spiritual practice to his young protege Lord Ram, the abstract language of the illusory nature of things gives way to brilliant praise verses wherein Vasistha sees the creative powers of the goddess within his own body. In this presentation, we will explore the poetic chapters of the Nirvana Prakarana in which Vasistha merges with earth, water, fire, and air, ascends into space and then returns to continue his dharma.

Dr. Christopher Chapple - Doshi Professor of Indic and Comparative Theology and Director of the Master of Arts in Yoga Studies at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. He has numerous publications and currently is co-editor along with Professor Arindam Chakrabarti of Engaged Emancipation: Mind, Morals, and Make-Believe in the Mokshopaya (Yogavasistha), forthcoming in 2014.
