"Hitler's Generals in America: Nazi POWs and Allied Military Intelligence"

March 6, 12:00pm - 1:15pm
Mānoa Campus, Henke 325

This talk will compare the behavior and perspectives of two German general officers, Ludwig Cruwell and Bernard-Hermann Ramcke, both held as prisoners of war during the Second World War by first Britain and then the United States. These two men exemplify the pitfalls of attempting to assess the political loyalties of prisoners of war. Both were believed to be hardcore Nazis while in captivity, yet took very different paths in the immediate postwar era.
