Brandt Chair Lecture Series On Comparative HawaiÊ»i-Polynesia Temples From HWST 675: Huli Heiau HawaiÊ»inuiÄkea
Students enrolled in HWST 675: Huli Heiau HawaiÊ»inuiÄkea traveled with faculty and staff to Tahiti during summer 2014, visiting and documenting 30 temples on Huahine, MoÊ»orea, Raiatea, Borabora and Tahiti Nui. This four-lecture series features film and photos, and compares Hawaiian heiau and Tahitian temples, considering their orientation to the stars, associated gods and cultural significance.
