Waikiki Parc Features Shannon Webb

July 2, 2015 - September 25, 2015
Parc Promenade Gallery, Waikiki Parc Hotel, 2233 Helemoa Road, Waikiki

Shannon Webb’s ceramic sculptures are highlighted as part of an expanded arts partnership of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, the Halekulani and its sister hotel, the Waikiki Parc.

Shannon Webb, an imminent graduate of the UHM Department of Art + Art History, expects to receive a BFA degree in 2016. Born and raised on O‘ahu, she had planned to concentrate on drawing and painting in college but became fascinated by clay, its tactile quality, and the infinite possibilities that it offers. She states, “Creating and making things is and has always been an interest of mine. Being able to pull something from my imagination and flesh it out right in front of me is uniquely euphoric.” Flora, fauna, and water are the sources of inspiration for the organic shapes and fluid movement in her carved utilitarian ceramic vessels. She explores the relationship between form and design with a focus on the flow of line and the resulting positive and negative spaces.

Public Reception: Thursday, July 2, 2015 / 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
