Creating and Sustaining an Ag Business in Hawaii

This course is for individuals interested in starting or have recently started an ag business (growing crops, value-added, CSA) to create an action plan of the steps needed to take to be successful. The workshop will focus on specific steps on how to identify if starting a business is a good fit for you, refine your business model, creating planning documents and setting goals, registering your business and paying taxes in Hawaii, managing your finances through record keeping in Quickbooks and financial documents, marketing and distributing your product, and effective business communication. At the end of the workshop you will have the basics of a business plan created with a clearer idea of how to move forward with your business idea.

The course will include in class instruction, computer instruction, business plan creation, and end of the workshop presentation to a panel of ag experts.
