Integrating Science & Culture in STEM Fields
January 25, 11:30am - 12:45pmMānoa Campus, Kuykendall 106
This panel discussion will address how faculty can better support Hawai‘i‘s underrepresented students as they pursue STEM degrees by implementing culture-driven, inquiry-based, place-based curriculum. By doing this, students are allowed to bridge two knowledge systems, one based on the beliefs and pedagogical practices of the Hawaiian culture and the other based on Eurocentered (Western) scientific perspectives and pedagogy.
Panelists will include faculty from a range of disciplines, including Hawaiian Studies, Oceanography, Geography and more!
Please feel free to bring your own lunch. Beverages will be provided.
