Better Tomorrow Speaker Series: Chasing Coral, film screening and discussion

A screening of the documentary Chasing Coral will be followed by a discussion with world renown scientists.

Ove Hoegh-Guldberg is the founding director of the Global Change Institute at the University of Queensland. An expert in coral reef ecology, Hoegh-Guldberg has become an internationally renowned advocate for sustainable ocean policy and for the effective communication of science to the public. Hoegh-Guldberg was a Chief Scientific Advisor for the film.

Ruth Gates is the director of the UHM Hawai‘i Institute of Marine Biology. Gates is on a quest to stabilize and restore coral reefs worldwide. Her lab is applying human-assisted evolution to develop resilient coral species, 'super corals,' to help reverse the decline of this critical ocean ecosystem. Gates served as a Scientific Advisor on the film.
