Korean Studies Core University Conference

Korea has witnessed great societal changes in recent years including consolidation of democracy, growth in its economy, security challenges, expanding influence of Korean popular culture, and shifting identities of Koreans. The nature of these changes has not been fully studied.

In 2015, the Center for Korean Studies at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa received Core University funding from the Academy of Korean Studies, South Korea, with a focus on the issues of "Diversity, Identity, and Universality in Global Korea." Concluding three years of research by the Center's Core University Project team, the Center for Korean Studies is holding a conference to highlight its accomplishments and to confirm its continuing growth, through which future generations of Korean studies scholars will be produced and nurtured.
