Sam Wilson, Dept. of Oceanography, University of Hawaii, will present findings from an oceanographic expedition in July 2018 which looked at the impacts of lava on the surface ocean.
The expedition was specifically conducted to investigate a large phytoplankton bloom that had developed offshore and the talk will highlight what they discovered and its connections to the lava.
Scott Rowland, SOEST, will begin the talk with an introduction of the 2018 Kilauea eruption.
