Can We Ever Trust Historical Records? Adventures in Spanish Maritime History

May 6, 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Mānoa Campus

Dr. Carla Rahn Phillips, Professor Emeritus, University of Minnesota, will discuss why historical actors either lied or honestly believed false information in light of Spanish maritime history. The period covered is from the later Middle Ages through the 18th Century. She asks if we can trust the government documents that she has studied over the years. Please join us for this free Zoom lecture. Contact Prof. Peter Hoffenberg at peterh@hawaii.edu for the Zoom invitation.
