Southeast Asian people have witnessed major transformations in their lives and livelihoods in recent decades. This webinar series focuses on a variety of issues, and most have a plastic connection. This webinar discusses the socio-environmental dimensions of the expansion of oil palm and rubber plantations. Moderator: Philip Hirsch (Professor Emeritus of Human Geography, School of Geosciences, University of Sydney) Our Fall 2021 webinar series "Southeast Asia in Transition: Plastic Runs Through It" explores how communities in the region currently experienced economic, social, and cultural dislocations of these transformations.
