2021 UH Breakthrough Innovation Challenge Finals

November 18, 5:00pm - 6:30pm
Mānoa Campus, Zoom

Join PACE for the 2021 UH Breakthrough Innovation Challenge finals on November 18, 2021 over Zoom. Each Fall semester, students from across the UH System submit their unique ideas for solutions to our world’s problems. The most promising ideas are selected to present during a final event to compete for a top prize of $5,000. The finalists also receive dedicated business mentorship in preparation for the challenge. Meet the final challengers, and cheer them on as they answer questions from a star-studded panel of judges. Finalists include Abio, which provides a platform that allows for digital autobiographies; Model-C that offers technology for simulation and optimization for infrastructures; and Project Galilee that presents a novel solution for hurricane deadening. Register at pace.shidler.hawaii.edu/bic for the Zoom link. Held in partnership with the UH College of Engineering and the Richardson School of Law, the UH Breakthrough Innovation Challenge is an entrepreneurial competition where participants pitch their innovative business idea to a panel of judges, for a chance to win cash prizes. The purpose of this challenge is to expose students and faculty in all disciplines to entrepreneurial thinking and to bring recognition and attention to innovators at the University of Hawai‘i. The Challenge does not require a business plan or complicated financial statements. The Challenge pairs competitors with business mentors, and teaches students to research market opportunities, seek customer validation, and determine the commercial potential of their idea. Furthermore, students hone their presentation and communication skills.
