The Science & Art of Anthuriums

February 11, 9:30am - 11:30am
Mānoa Campus, Lyon Arboretum, 3860 Manoa Rd

Celebrate Valentine’s Day early by learning all about local anthuriums! If you haven’t paid attention to anthuriums lately, you’ll be amazed by all the new colors and shapes. Or if you have, did you ever wonder why and how they were created? How about choosing and handling blossoms? Need some tips regarding plant care?

Join us for a class that will teach you a little science behind the development of a new anthurium cultivar, and how art and floral design has become an integral part of the research and breeding program here in Hawaii. Some classic and current trends using these beloved tropical flowers in various floral arrangements will be showcased.

Taught by Dr. Teresita Amore
Professor & Asst. Researcher, Dept. of Tropical Plant & Soil Sciences

Floral displays arranged by members of The Garden Club of Honolulu
