8.   Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
I can learn about basic principle of why trade happen. And also professor solved problem every each chapter. That is really good for practicing example.
I liked the little bits of "real life" examples you used to demonstrate the concepts-- for example, the little video clips from NPR or South Park. It made the topics more interesting and relevant, and helped me to remember them during the homework/exams. The slides and lecture notes were also very helpful. The expectations of the class were fair and the course was graded fairly as well.
In-class notes and powerpoints being available on Laulima. Opportunities to do practice problems and homework, which together gave enough examples of material to gain an understanding of the concepts.
This course and the professor gives us insight to the reasoning behind the models, which I feel is valuable to understanding the material.
Knowledge of international trade policies how they play a major role in the growth of our economy.
Learning different models
Clearly laid out key concepts to understanding International Trade Policy
The course overall was a valuable experience.
Resources such as lectures, homework and mock problems that were posted on Laulima helped immensely.
myeconlab and practice questions helped the most! Lectures were great and definitely a class i look forward to going to.
I think that I was able to get exposed to many different trade theories in a short period of time.
Homework assignments and number of exams.
The class had emphasized on tariff and nontariff trade barriers which can be useful for our future if we want to start our own trades and it also makes us understand more about cause-effect or reasons behind the news or what 's going on between our country and others.
Learning about concept and principles about international trade. Examining how international trade affects economies.
Good general overview of international trade.
All materials are useful
Myeconlab Answer key goes step by step to solve problems
I thought that Professor Karacaovali explained things really well which was the best part of the class
Increased knowledge of how tariffs and quotas are implemented for real world situations. Also the section on comparative advantage is both interesting and helpful for every other trade based topic.
His materials were helped a lot to study very clearly.

9.   Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
I don't think something least valuable for this class.
None
Did not feel challenged enough for an Upper Division II class. Huge focus on concepts vs. Real world examples. While concepts are understandably important, I believe they were not too difficult and could have been expanded.

Too much focus on bland theory, not enough real life examples of the theories. Real life is more interesting than theory.
None
Nothing
the days where we went over problem sets were kind of redundant
all the aspects of the course were essential to understanding international trade.
I sometimes felt lost by very detailed explanations for the graphs and theories we studied. The concepts themselves were well explained but occasionally we would go so deep into a topic that I felt more confused than when we started.

15.   Other comments:
I want to recommend to take this class for other people who is interested in world trade.
Although I entered the class without a particular interest in the topic, I feel like I really learned the material very well. I would definitely take this teacher again.
I know it's a small class but if time permitted, I think it would be nice to include some discussion on related topics.
Baybars is my favorite Economics Professor and I highly recommend to all Econ majors to take his courses.
Although the course go through learning various models, the dynamics and literature of international trade and welfare is not much discussed. It may be beneficial to people who is going to graduate school but for just a regular Econ major, learning various models is not going to give a good general understanding of how international trade works and welfare is affected in the real world.
Overall, enjoyed the class. Would have liked to have been challenged more though. For example, Consumer Surplus and Ricardian Model were concepts that were explored (admittedly in less detail) in intro classes. A refresher is good but would have liked to move beyond it to real world policies and analysis of them.
If this course was repeatable for credit, I would take it again from Dr. Karacaovali. He is a great asset to the Economics department.
I'm glad I took this course.

I think it would have been nice to get a more in-depth understanding of the subjects we went over. I would have liked it if we had assigned or optional reading of the text book or of articles to be able to understand how the theories were applicable to the real world. Professor Karacaovali is a great teacher but I think students could be pushed a little more through reading and writing or through presentations.
For me, i like everything in class but only time that we have class, it 's at the late of the day and sometimes I felt so tired, so may be if it is the morning class or a class during the day... it 's going to be better (just my opinion).
Professor Karacaovali is organized and explains the material clearly in class. He does his best to help students understand the concepts taught in class.
Baybars is a good professor, however I would like to see many more examples from real life to make lectures more interesting.
Its difficult but good materials
Baybars is a great professor who is interested in ensuring his students actually understand the topics. I appreciate he coupled myeconlab and problem sets after teaching a chapter. It assisted greatly with the application you would see on the exams. Also, I appreciate he is not a harsh grader because he focuses more on student understanding.
Baybars is excellent. He is approachable, friendly, and very knowledgeable. I would have definitely taken another class from him but apparently everyone else feels the same way because his next course has already been filled.
