8.   Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
I really like the way he teaches the material. Not only do we students (loaded with student debts) save money due to his wonderful slides, it's very informative and makes a better class notes. He is also willing to meet the students outside of his usual office hour times if we can't make it.
Attendance being checked was pretty valuable, there is more reason to show up to class.
Being able to recognize statistically significant results
Just basic statistical formulas that could be used in science.
Gave introduction to the course. He gave a lot of examples in class and on top of that practice problems to help prepare us for our exams.
His multiple resources
I feel like this course may help with GRE or other graduate school exams. I think stat questions will be on there.
All the same
The lectures. He gave good examples and was very helpful.
Statistics is applicable in various parts of life.
Material from the course can be applied to real life
Significance testing and calculations of information given a data set
Couple of good aspect about this class is that its a good environment and he enjoys what he does, which makes it the class more interesting,
More practice on doing mathematical problems.
class information
lots of extra credit to make up for challenging topics
The statistical tests because they were the most challenging.
Having him give us practice problems was most valuable to me. It allowed me actually try to get the concept
The notes we had to fill in kept me on my toes and I always was paying attention.
The way it was taught in a calm way, always making sure no one felt stupid for not getting it right away maybe.
Great teaching
This secondary course provided plentiful examples, matching perfectly with my "relax and learn" goals.
The homework was very helpful in learning throughout this course.
I thought the iclicker questions were helpful in understanding the concept that were showed to us that day in class. Also the fact, that Professor Karacaovali did examples and did many of those helped especially on the handouts.
The explanations of the usage of the statistical formulas in real life situations encourages full understanding of the material.
economics is a very universal subject
I believe the most valuable aspect I gaineed from this course was the ability to figure probabilities and calculations of probability
The amount of material he gave to review and study.
His teaching style and slides. Very well done
iclickr attendance points and multiple extra credit opportunities that were given
His examples for each topic.
All the resources provided to us on Laulima!
One of the things that Professor Baybars did that is most valuable is utilizing several examples of a certain topic. Whenever we are still confused, he goes through each step of the process slowly so the students can catch up. He also go over some practice problems to help us understand the concept before the exam.
Knowledge of statistics.
The lecture is the most valuable and very informative.
The many opportunities for points!
All of the extra problem sets that we had to work with for practice. It really helped me understand the content better.
practice problems and homework
?
I liked the concept of having handouts to accompany each lecture. That way, it was easy to follow along with the material and to be able to reference material when it came to studying for exams.
learning about all the different types of statistical tests
Finding the confidence intervals of statistics.
How to understand the difference between some equations and others. Why they are used and the significance of learning statistics.
He gave a lot of examples when going over the material.
the underlying concepts behind statistical tests
Use of statistical analysis in daily life.
I felt that every aspect of this course was equally valuable. I felt that all material taught in class was just as important as the next, and that the homework given were helpful and was great practice for me to understand the material and prepare for exams.
I found the handouts as well as practice problem sets and past exams helpful when studying for tests.
The examples and worksheets were helpful.
The problems online were helpful to understanding the work in class.
well explanations of materials
regressin analysis
Learning how to calculate and understand standard deviation and understanding how to read normal distribution curves.
Learning how to use statistics in every day life.
The instructor made this course very valuable. Baybars is very thorough in explaining the concepts that were already hard to begin with. Although I am still generally confused about some aspects of the class, Baybars was always willing to help out his students with his office hours. He made the course cost friendly by being heavily reliant on Laulima. The handouts are available as well as the lecture slides and that made it easier to review and study. Finally, he gave multiple opportunities to boost our grades; through computer assignments that allow us to practice what we learned in class and through online assignments that help us prepare for the exams. His practice exams and sample problems have really helped me prepare for the midterms.
great professor made a difficult subject such as stats nearly seem easy, his organization and care for the class makes him such a great professor!
He was very patient with explaining the material. He was very nice and chill.
Being able to understand the statistical significance of data and if it was significant not only statistically but in actuality
?
the hand outs
Videos
How structured it was a not beam punt of resources available on laulima.
Probability, subjects more towards the beginning of the semester
Mr. Baybars always offer office hour, which helps us to understand the class better.
Applications to real life
The courses material given was really helpful in understanding the content better. Also by including examples and exercises for the course was great.
Everything
data compilation and understanding the numbers
The use of a scientific calculator in daily activities. The use of probability and how it can change once a component is eliminated.
He gives students a chance to pass the class with the curve
Being able to apply what I have learned to every day life.
He went over the material very well
The instructor supplied us with many resources such as practice problem sets and practice exams that helped with studying for midterms. The grading was also very fair and accounted for not completely understanding everything right away. Most of the learning came from working through homework problem sets.
the sample exams
He was so helpful and explained really well.

9.   Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
none
Some of the derivations of formulas made it somewhat confusing to understand especially when it came to actually using that formula.
Too much information at once sometimes
Some of the other types of analysis I wouldn't find useful unless I was an economics major.
none
all the same
nothing
N/A
The course gets a bit dull at time
Its all pretty valuable, however maybe not so much for those not in a STEM degree
One aspect of the course I least value is not being able to distinguish the numbers 4 and 6, when he writes on the board.
All the paper used.
amount of absent classes
The beginning of the course because I already knew the information.
I thought this was a very good course throughout
I think there should be said now and then that phones should be put away- because simple things need to be repeated again and again just because so many are on their phones and then guessing the I clicker questions.
Any extreme math that I will never use in real life.
I had a personal thought that the teacher-student relationship was very dull and taxing. The students would respond only if there was an eclipse outside, or a youtube clip was shown, and the teacher would obviously be affected by the regular, converse silence. :/ Negative feedback shouldn't be involved in learning, when itself a positive feedback loop.
nothing
iclicker attendance was inconsistent.
N/a
I think every section was a value to the course itself.
N/A
None
homework assignment due dates at 10AM was kind of odd-usually 11:59PM
His lack of more examples for each topic.
Computer assignments
Fortunately, throughout the entire course, there was NO insignificant aspect that made the class less valuable.
the dull, straight-forward presentation style of statistics. Statistics is hard to teach, but so is physics. Although it might not be possible to do an in-class demonstration of statistics, emulating this genius professor's way to make class super duper interesting might come in handy for the future: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4a0FbQdH3dY
Nothing is least valuable.
The iclicker was hard to keep track of sometimes, but there was always a sign in sheet anyways!
The pace of the course was way to quick near the end. I had trouble keeping up with things and this made it more difficult because everything builds on each other.
nothing
?
none
Nothing I can think of.
I felt that topic 12 was least valuable because we weren't expected to cover it in the beginning of the course.
N/A
the monotony of the lectures
The friends you will lose from analyzing everything from a statistical standpoint.
I don't think that it was necessary to have attendance be mandatory, students should be rewarded extra credit for attending classes. There were times were I was sick and showed up to class anyway because I had missed a few classes prior.
I found everything that Baybars discussed in lecture to be very valuable to success in this course.
The use of random videos and iClicker take up a lot of valuable time during lecture.
n/a
it was alll valuable
None
I think that the timeframe made it a bit hard to grasp statistics. It's a hard class and I know that this is an introductory course but the time constraints combined with the topic made it a bit of a challenge. Baybars did great but the subject itself was still tough.
the size of the class
Nothing, everything was valuable
?
the computer assignments
Iclicker
Subjects isn't the most thrilling but our professor did a great job of still keeping us interestedandengaged.
None
I think take attendance is meaningless.
not much, considering we didn't need to memorize formulas.
Nothing
nil
Hypothesis testing
His lectures seemed monotonous and boring
The Problems sets, in the time that each one was due. For me personally my schedule conflicted a lot of the due dates.
The setting of the classroom wasn't very engaging
Being given formulas and notes to use on the exams was beneficial but did not force a complete conceptual understanding of the material. This course was best, in my opinion, for non-science majors.
nothing
I sometimes forgot to print out the handouts. Would be nice to have document online and to be able to type on it.

20.   Other comments:
I wish his 4 and 6 was more clear. He was trying to fix this problem but habits are hard to fix so it was hard to read even though he tried. Other than that, excellent professor!
He went 0 too 100 real fast. Spent too much time at the beginning on the basics and then the more difficult topics covered weren't covered as much. Should review topics at the end of the section
Great professor. Does his best to teach the material the class in way that every can understand. Willing to help if students have difficulty with the material.
Nicest and most caring professor I have. Karacaovali really wants his students to succeed and learn. He really does care, and for that, he's one of the best professor I have ever had at UHM
His 4's and 6's look too similar.
She wasnt present in the class a lot but I understand that she had other obligations but she gave great fed back on my compoute5r assignments always had office hours available.
N/A
His numbers are their own unique numerical system that you have to learn in the first couple weeks to distinguish between a few numbers, mostly 4 and 6
His number 4s looks like 6s.
great job
Would definitely take other courses with him
Excellent class... Mahalo for your patience
Highly recommended professor
Students need to associate learning with some reward. Right now my generation's brain is fixed on instant gratification and we aren't biologically at instantaneous production yet, presenting a paradox that needs to be unraveled. What are some small, widely available reward options that can enhance student's willingness to learn?
Baybars is very friendly about helping students and a good teacher, however when he is lecturing he tends to jump back and forth around his lecture slides and will mention a side note during a lesson, and then talk for a while about that side note making it difficult to focus on the material.
Did not like when a substitute came and changed the learning style. It required awkward learning adaptation.
He looks like Johnny Depp.
Awesome teacher
Keep up the good work Dr. Karacaovali.
NONE
Professor Baybars taught very well and is very enthusiastic about his topic.
Karacaovali really cares about how his students are doing in his class. He makes the time to see students out side of class, likes it when people ask questions, and is an overall good person. More teachers at UH should be like him.
good class. I like that he gives us the formulas
Overall, he was a knowledgeable teacher and I recommend future students to take his class.
Excellent class! Highly recommended professor.
Baybars is the nicest and most forgiving (in terms of grading and online submissions) teacher I have ever had during my time at UH Manoa. I feel as though at times, people can take advantage of this, but I try to do my best in this class because of his generosity, and for my own growth. I hope to see Professor Karacaovali stay a part of this University for a long while.
In class, sometimes he went very quickly over subjects that were very dense and hard to understand. He was a nice and helpful professor.
Please work on your handwriting. Sometimes it is a bit difficult distinguishing words from actual numbers.
He is a great teacher and I would definitely take his another one of his classes again.
It was a good class, what might help make it a little more interesting is if he forced students to participate and answer parts of the questions for a small extra credit. He stands behind the computer and explains everything but there is s buzz from the computer throughout the room that just makes it tedious, if there are more people trying to participate for extra credit it would be louder and make it not so boring. He's a great professor though
Good professor, funny and thorough with teachingg
Very good teacher. Would like to take again.
nil
Homework dates should be on the syllabus and/or reminders sent out so people don't miss them, etc.
TA is hardly in class so I cannot make a comment about her

Great class
When you say 'R squared' it sounds like 'arse squirt' sorry :( I'm not making fun, I have an accent too
