CIS 720 Seminar – A Talk on PHD At A Distance

Please join us on Monday April 29, 4:30-5:30 for a talk by CIS PhD students Wiebke Reile and Lila Loos .

For our final CIS 720 session of the semester, Wiebke Reile and Lila Loos will be conducting a panel on pursuing a PhD at a distance. They’ll do so via Zoom, feel free to login remotely, which is thematically consistent.

Wiebke Reile is a fourth-year doctoral student in the Communication and Information Sciences program at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. She recently successfully defended her dissertation entitled, “Activist organizations and strategic utilization of information and communication technologies: An exploration of CODEPINK: Women for Peace.” She is also a Adjunct Professor at CUNY’s Brooklyn College teaching Communication Research and Communication Policy and Law in the Department of Television and Radio.

Lila Loos is a Ph.D. candidate in the Communication and Information Sciences program and will defend her proposal on May 1st. Lila will speak on balancing student life “at a distance” on her journey to the dissertation proposal stage.
