CJS Faculty member honored with teaching excellence award

CJS faculty member Dr. Christine Yano in the Department of Anthropology was among the seventeen recipients of the Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Teaching. She and the other recipients will be honored at a Convocation ceremony to be held on September 27, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Kennedy Theatre. See this link for more information on the award and all of the recipients. The Convocation is free and open to the public.

Frances David Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching

Dr. Tomoko Iwai, Instructor of Japanese in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, has just received the 2011 Frances David Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.  Two other recent Davis awardees come from EALL’s Japanese program: Susan Hirate in 2004 and Patrick Woo in 2007.  The Award “recognizes dedication and demonstrated excellence” in undergraduate teaching.  Japanese Studies is lucky to have teachers like this!
