Mr. Joseph Iseri (UHM undergraduate student, Japanese language major) and Ms. Lillian McIntyre (UHM undergraduate student, double majoring in Japanese and Fine Arts-painting) have been selected to participate in the summer Ehime Internship Program 2019. Both students visited the Ehime-maru memorial in Kakaʻako Park on May 3, 2019 to pay their respects to those who perished in the accident (2/9/2001). Joseph and Lillian will intern in the Ehime Prefectural International Center (EPIC), giving presentations on Hawaiʻi at various schools in Ehime, participating in Hawaiʻi Culture Day, and assisting in the EPIC office. The program was established by the Ehime Prefectural government in order to promote friendship and mutual understanding between Ehime and Hawaiʻi.
