Wūjooj-in-lojet (Thalassia hemprichii - Hydrocharitaceae)

Description: Wūjooj-in-lojet is a seagrass or saltwater herb (marine flowering plant), commonly found in many marine wetlands of Micronesia. It is a dioecious plant, which means an individual plant will produce either only male flowers or only female flowers. This seagrass is called "turtle grass" in English. The Marshallese name "wūjooj-in-lojet" also refers to algae.

Distribution: Wūjooj-in-lojet grows submerged in shallow coastal tidal flats with its roots embedded in sand or mud.
