ENG 100 with a grade of C or better or equivalent.
This is an introductory course that provides a broad yet detailed
exposure to the American Educational System, an introduction to
the teaching profession and a knowledge base of contemporary issues
in Education. Students will examine the structure, culture, and
curriculum of schools and the broad forces (historical, philosophical,
legal and financial) that shape the foundation of our educational
system. Students will participate in fifteen hours of field experience
outside of the class to provide an opportunity to observe what
happens in a classroom. (formerly ED 298C)
Books may be purchased at the Leeward CC bookstore or ordered online at http://www.bookstore.hawaii.edu/lcc/home.aspx

The Internet allows students to take a course at home using a personal computer. Familiarity with using a computer and basic Internet skills (browsing, sending e-mail, saving/sending files) is required. Students must have a computer with Internet access. Depending on the online course, students may be required to log in at a specific day and time or at anytime. Students taking an online course should always contact their instructor after registration or prior to the first day of class to get detailed information regarding the course.
