Rec Prep: ENG 21 and ENG 22, each with a grade of C or better, or equivalent
Course Description:
Give students the opportunity to design, develop, and
process health information data. Students learn how
health information is stored, retained, and retrieved
in accordance with ethical, legal and voluntary rules,
regulations and standards. Primary and secondary record
systems will be covered, including numbering and filing
systems, documentation and form requirements, screen
designs and content, and usage and structure of health
data sets. In addition, students learn about ambulatory
care facilities, nursing homes, hospices, and home care
offered in the United States. Students also explore the
electronic health record, human resource supervision and
resource management and the responsibilities of healthcare
professionals.
