Dr. Lautze is a research investigator on this project, focusing primarily on determining the groundwater source and flow using chemical analyses of rainwater and well water samples, as well as determining the 3D structure of the aquifers using geophysical techniques.
Dr. Lautze received her bachelor’s degree in geology at the University of California Los Angeles, and earned her PhD in Geology and Geophysics at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She completed postdoctoral training in a number of places, including at the United States Geological Survey as part of the Volcano Hazards Team in California, the Centre for Volcano Research at the Universidad de Colima in Mexico, the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia in Seismology and Tectonophysics, and at UH Mānoa in Geology and Geophysics.
