Beginning in 2017, UHLILC periodically hosts an Information Literacy Summit as a professional development opportunity across academic institutions, schools, and public libraries statewide. The summit serves as a platform to foster collaboration and share best practices, with a focus on strengthening information literacy efforts in Hawai’i. By bringing diverse information professionals together, the summit aims to enhance coordination and communication, promote innovative projects, and support the growth of information literacy programs. Though efforts each year may look different, and were paused during the COVID-19 pandemic, the committee is ultimately striving to create a space for dialogue and to reinforce the vital role of information literacy in education.
