Interest in mental health was sparked in the Fall 2004 N371 (Psych/MH) undergrad class at University of Hawaii, Manoa. In order to sustain our MH esprit de corps and keep persons in the loop of what is happening around town and overseas in MH, a collective of the 04 group expressed interest in forming an interest group to revolve around periodic social gatherings. Maria Guerriero, MH lecturer, hosted a potluck with her clinical group at the end of the semester. Those in attendance asked for a repeat. Hence, the birth of an interest group!
To HAVE FUN, share good food, debate hot issues in MH, inform of upcoming opportunities & events, and support one another in a shared endeavour to promote MH.
The group is open to all undergrad and grad students interested in MH irregardless of career focus. (Of course you will all want to switch to MH and of course we won’t pressure anyone to do so!) It is envisioned that as the group grows and develops, specific themes for gatherings will evolve. Until such time, we will remain open and see what happens.
