The University of Hawaiʻi Alumni Association recognized Chevron Hawaiʻi, UHAA–East Chapter and Hawaiian Airlines for their outstanding commitment to the University of Hawaiʻi and alumni association. The awards were during UH Mānoa’s 2011 Homecoming Week, October 17⏻23.

“It is important for us to recognize publicly that our success as an organization would not be possible without the continued support of our chapters, partners and communities,” said Alvin Katahara, executive director of UHAA.

Awards

The Outstanding Community Service Award was presented to Chevron Hawaiʻi during the Homecoming football game on October 22.

Chevron Hawaiʻi sponsors numerous collegiate scholarships at Mānoa’s College of Engineering, Shidler College of Business and School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology. Chevron also provided the Taraflex floor at the Stan Sheriff Center and much-needed rehabilitation equipment for athletic trainers.

The Chapter of the Year Award was presented to the UHAA–East Chapter at the Wahine volleyball match on October 23. Connecting UH alumni and friends on the East coast since 1989, UHAA–East participates in the Annual Hawaiʻi Potluck Picnic in Central Park and hosts receptions to share Hawaiian culture and to highlight the achievements and expertise of UH alumni in and around the New York area.

The Partner of the Year Award was presented to Hawaiian Airlines at the Wahine volleyball match on October 21. Hawaiian Airlines has provided members with great discounts on web airfares. They have also been a loyal supporter of the annual UHAA Distinguished Alumni Awards Dinner and many other UHAA and chapter events.
