The Kauaʻi Community College ʻohana will join hands to honor Earth Day 2015 at the campus farm on Wednesday, April 22, 12 p.m. It will be a day to mālama ʻāina and support sustainable living practices.

Students in the College’s Sustainability Club and GoFarm Hawaiʻi at Kauaʻi CC’s coordinator, Eric Hansen have organized the occasion. Hansen will lead participants in a variety of activities including planting perennial nitrogen fixing ground covers, making cuttings of existing ground cover plants, and helping to clean up the farm area. The Sustainability Club will provide a water refilling station and snacks.

“We decided that, for this year, spending grassroots quality time together taking care of our beloved campus would be the most meaningful way to honor the spirit of Earth Day,” said Helen Cox, Kauaʻi CC’s chancellor. “The theme of helping hands coming together to volunteer in an area that needs help is the perfect fit for us right now. Together we can expand our support for a sustainable living community,” she said.
