Maureen Kearns performs in MemoryHouse: DREAMS

The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents MemoryHouse: DREAMS, this year’s mainstage dance concert which is co-directed by dance faculty Kara Miller and Amy Lynn Schiffner. Performances will take place Friday, November 11 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, November 12 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 13 at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

This visual journey explores the immensity of love and memory and the imprint left in our subtle, physical and earthly bodies. Contemporary dance styles as well as hula and Balinese dance will be performed live and enhanced by projection-scapes and video. The concert will also include an original dance film featuring UH Mānoa student performers and student filmmakers from UH Mānoa’s Academy for Creative Media in collaboration with filmmakers, dancers, choreographers and producers from Indonesia, Hawaiʻi, the Pacific Islands and the U.S.

The audience is invited to play a role in the performance by walking through gallery-like spaces and engaging with interactive audio and video dance performance environments on the Kennedy Mainstage and in the Earle Ernst Lab Theatre.

MemoryHouse: DREAMS co-directors Miller and Schiffner plan to “provide our audience with bold, new movement combined with an innovative media experience. The audience will witness an evening of the realized artistic visions of many local artists as well as guest artists from Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Rotuma and the mainland.”
