Silhouette of a woman with a sword standing above three monsters.

The Leeward Theatre is proud to present She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen on November 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 17, 18 at 8 p.m. and November 19 at 4 p.m. Due to renovations at the Leeward Theater, the showings will take place in the new Leeward Theatre Alternate Space.

A comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games, She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s dungeons and dragons notebook, however, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres and 90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.

Leeward faculty member and award winning local director Betty Burdick will be directing the production. Nicholas Logue of Windward Community College will be choreographing the many fights.

Burdick has directed past shows from the Leeward Theater such as Alice in Wonderland, Twelfth Night, Titus Andronicus, Clockwork, A Dark and Stormy Knight, Tartuffe, and most recently, The Comedy of Errors. Some of the students and alumni in the production have also starred in Burdick’s past shows or have taken theater classes with her.

She Kills Monsters is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
