Aloha United Way (AUW) honored the University of Hawaiʻi Federal Credit Union (UHFCU) and UH System for their 2017 campaigns at the AUW Spirit of Community Awards ceremony on May 10.
UHFCU earned the Laulima award, which recognizes exceptional leadership of an individual/group in coordinating a workplace giving campaign in small, medium and large companies. UHFCU employees were also presented with the award for Best Singer for their music video to the song “Let’s Talk Story” by the Hawaiian Style Band.
“The University of Hawaiʻi Credit Union is honored to support such an important and worthwhile community-focused organization like Aloha United Way,” said UHFCU President and CEO Travis Bow. “We are extremely proud of our employees, who continue to demonstrate our commitment to supporting AUW‘s mission in the local community. We are thrilled to be recognized once again for the outstanding efforts of our employees and to help support such vital and valuable social services throughout the Islands.”
UH System earned the learning institution award. Mel Colquitt, director of AUW workplace campaigns, nominated the UH System based on the energy and efforts the system offices put forward in support of AUW.
The AUW Spirit of Community Awards recognize individuals and companies whose extraordinary level of commitment helps to raise millions of dollars each year to support local charities who impact hundreds of thousands of lives.
