Windward Community College library

Out Loud in the Library! at Windward Community College presents one visual artist and three writers from Bamboo Ridge on Thursday, November 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hale Laʻakea Library. The event is free and open to the public.

Noe Tanigawa will discuss her art portfolio in the 40th anniversary issue of Bamboo Ridge. Writers Tamara Leiokanoe Moan, Susan M. Soong and Jeffrey J. Higa will read their work from the issue.

Out Loud in the Library! is a literary and music event celebrating the rich intersection of words and music by local artists, and is meant to inspire and encourage students to find their own creative voice through writing, reading, poetry, music, spoken word and visual arts.

Featured artists

Noe Tanigawa
Tanigawa covers art and culture for Hawaiʻi Public Radio. Her work won an Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio and Television News Directors’ Association as well as awards from the Society of Professional Journalists Hawaiʻi Chapter and the Los Angeles Press Club.

Tamara Leiokanoe Moan
Moan is a writer and artist who lives in Kailua, Oʻahu. Her nonfiction work has appeared in local and national magazines.

Susan M. Soong
Soong received the James A. Vaughan Award for Poetry in 2008 and won first place for fiction and poetry in the Lorin Tarr Gill Writing Competition in 2012.

Jeffrey J. Higa
Higa has been published in Zyzzyva, Sonora Review and Bamboo Ridge.
