Maxx Taga wins award
Fall 2019 graduate Maxx Taga received the outstanding graduating senior in civil and environmental engineering award from Professor Roger W. Babcock Jr.

A recent University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa graduate is among the nation’s up-and-coming leaders in civil engineering. The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) named Maxx Taga as one of 10 2020 New Faces of Civil Engineering in the college category.

Taga was an honors student with a 3.75 GPA graduating with a bachelor of science in civil engineering in fall 2019. He was named the outstanding graduating senior in civil and environmental engineering at the College of Engineering Convocation held in December 2019. Taga has served as a student ambassador and engineering council student member, and participated in several other student organizations.

Taga has worked as a visual effects artist on films including Fantastic Four and The Revenant, analyzed football statistics on Pro Football Focus and interned at NASA, Disneyland, Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company and the Department of Defense.

He has held various leadership roles as an Eagle Scout and conducted a project constructing parking bollards and signage for the Kahala Elementary School parking lot.

ASCE will recognize Taga at an event in Washington, D.C. on March 13.
