The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Lyon Arboretum will be closed to the public beginning Thursday, March 19, due to the COVID-19 health crisis.

Community classes and guided tours have been canceled, and school field trips are on hold. Officials from the arboretum said that no volunteers are needed at this time, with the exception of the Hawaiian Rare Plant Program, which will allow a limited number of volunteers.

The arboretum will reopen at a later date after re-evaluation based on the COVID-19 developments. During the closure, staff members will produce more content for its social media platforms and website aligned with the arboretum’s mission to educate the public.
