As concerns about the novel coronavirus escalate, many are desperate to unearth any information they can about the deadly virus. Questions surrounding where COVID-19 first emerged, how contagious it can be and treatment options continue to swirl.

On March 25, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa John A. Burns School of Medicine Associate Professor Erlaine Bello, put together an informational presentation online that dives into everything from the virus’ suspected origin, what role animals played in transmission and basic prevention strategies.

Bello’s seminar also highlights differences between coronavirus, seasonal flu, SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) and MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome).
